What a View Flying From Vancouver to Albuquerque
A photo journal …
We had an amazing time for our fall in Vancouver but when the opportunity arose to take a mini-vacation, we booked airline and hotel tickets and headed off to Albuquerque to attend the Balloon Fiesta. It was an early morning flight on a sunny, mostly cloudless day. Settled into the window seat, I recalled the exciting flight we had done into Vancouver one time and got surprised by the most amazing show of land contours from the sky as we flew south.
I was amazed to see the range and variety of hilly countryside in the northwest USA.

While the hills and mountains had been interesting, It was immediately evident when we hit the Grand Canyon. It was very interesting for our first view of the Grand Canyon to be from the sky. We would get a chance in a short while to see the Grand Canyon close up!

As we approached Phoenix, the hills became smaller and the desert like ground began to take shape. Â The red hued ground of Arizona was a teaser to driving through Arizona on our Grand Canyon tour!

While the surrounding countryside looked barren, the city of Phoenix looked like a well planned city and they had even incorporated amazing green spaces within the city boundaries.

After a short stop in Phoenix, we were in the air again for a short hop to Albuquerque. We continued to see the mostly flat barren countryside as we flew.

Arriving in Albuquerque, we could see the Rio Grande winding its way alongside the city. From the air we could not see the Balloon Fiesta grounds, but I had already had my entertainment for this day.

Make sure to take a window seat when you fly from Vancouver down to Phoenix or to Albuquerque. You will get the most amazing views!
Did you capture any other amazing sight when you did this flight? Is there another to rival this?
