Panama Street Art

You might be in such a rush to do everything on your to-do list that you forgot to stop for a moment and looked at the beauty it holds. That’s why we’ve made this photo journal that shows how Panama City artists paint the streets …

One of our more anticipated excursions on this 26 day cruise with Oceania Cruises was a trip from the Caribbean to the Atlantic along the Panama Canal. We did not expect to find Panama City so enticing!

Panama City Artists

Most people when they think about paint on a building, bridge or public surface immediately grimace and think of “graffiti”. We have seen our share of awful graffiti. I recall how disgusted I was to see the old town of Napoli.  We found the churches and historical monuments all tagged.

But not all painted walls are graffiti! We saw some colourful street art that celebrated the culture when we visited Panama City. Some of this street art was complemented by colour and creativity in the buildings and vehicles in the city. Even the “Panama hats” were decorated and colourful!

  1. I used to live in Central America – but rather in the western part so that I’ve never made it to Panama. I think it’s very different from most of the other countries – maybe more developed – just like Costa Rica. I would love to visit – especially now that you’ve introduced us to this fantastic street art. I’m currently working on posts on urban art in Spanish cities so I’ve read your post with great interest 🙂

    • We too were very surprised with Panama City when we visited. The street art was definitely a treat. One day we will go back and explore this interesting country more.
