West Coast Fall Colours

Many Spots To Enjoy The West Coast Fall Colours

We found many spots to enjoy the west coast fall colours.  British Columbia in the fall offered great autumn shows in the city and on day trips.  On U.S. road trips, we found great colour shows in Washington State, New Mexico and as we toured the National Parks.

Consider British Columbia, Canada In The Fall

When you ask most people where to go for fall leaf colours, you will generally hear “New England”. This year we were in Vancouver for the fall and had the opportunity to see a good variety of great fall colours.

If you drive outside of Vancouver into the Fraser Valley or north of Vancouver, as the leaves change colour they add a rainbow of colours to already great landscapes.

But even if you stay in the city, you can find autumn colours in the city settings. Our Airbnb condo in the False Creek neighbourhood was a delight as we watched the view change from summer to fall whether we were going for a stroll or biking in Vancouver.

We enjoyed the long drive over the mountains in Washington State as the leaves started to change colour.

Arriving in Spokane, we enjoyed the Spokane Chinese Lantern Festival. The colourful lanterns were complimented by reds and oranges of changing leaves.

Even when we headed further south to Albuquerque for the Hot Air Balloon Fiesta, we took a day to do the Turquoise Trail scenic route between Albuquerque and Santa Fe and found fall colours as we headed up to Sandia Peak.

Making it to Yellowstone Park before it was too late in the season, we got a view of late season  fall colours in Grand Teton Park and Jackson, Wyoming.

While the Grand Canyon geology provided striking colours, driving up to the Grand Canyon North Rim provided some view of fall colours still on the trees.

Enjoy The West Coast Fall Colours

When fall comes, get out and enjoy the autumn colours on the west coast. While there are a lot of evergreen trees on the west coast and parts covered with desert, there are lots of places that enjoy the fall colour magic.

Where have you enjoyed the west coast fall colours? Where in Canada or the U.S. is your favourite fall colour spot?
