What Were Your Favourite Blog Posts of 2016?
I was surprised when I checked my blog stats for the end of the year to see what your favourite blog posts of 2016 were. When I looked at the list, it covered much of our travel around the world in 2016.
We Travelled for Beaches and Water Fun
People travel a lot for warmth when you live in Toronto. This year was no exception. Cruising in the Caribbean drew lots of interest. Our review of the 10 things you will find in the Caribbean provided some education and a review of things we saw on our 26 day Caribbean cruise.
We returned to Bahamas to enjoy the food and the underwater life. Our experience snorkelling on the Ocean Atlas underwater statue is always a favourite blog post.
Travel in SE Asia caught our reader’s attention. Exploring the paradise that is Bali, we found beaches, fascinating temples and great relaxing retreats.
While in Thailand for 2 weeks we also headed to the beaches in Krabi. The AoNang beaches drew a lot of interest and was close to the top of your favourite blog posts of 2016.
Europe Travel is a Big Draw
Spain is one of our favourite places to visit in Europe, especially the south of Spain. Our travels to the Costa Del Sol area from Malaga to Marbella captured your attention.
The summary blog on travelling in France for 3 weeks provided a great overview of our travels from Paris, through the French Alps to Annecy, a stop in Avignon, enjoying the French Riviera and then finishing up in wine country.
London travel also seemed to be a popular topic. We have used London as our gateway to Europe. That gives us a chance to explore it a few days at a time.
As we head to Portugal and back to Spain in 2017, we are sure you will follow our travels.
Different Perspectives
This year it was great to travel to SE Asia with one of our children. As Nick travelled he texted and shared his pictures when we were not travelling together. This compilation provided the source for two blogs that talked about SE Asia travel from a younger perspective.
Iconic Structures
There were several blogs that provided an interesting view of iconic structures that were your favourite blog posts of 2016. On our year end trip we enjoyed the transit through the Suez Canal. But our trip along the Panama Canal provided a good view of the “other” canal!
The Temples of Bangkok was a big 2016 fan favourite. We had the chance to see the gold and glitter of the Palace. In contrast, we also saw the colour and playful statues of the Hindu temples. When we did a night cruise in Bangkok we got to see the temples from a different perspective.
The year was started with a visit to New Orleans for Mardi Gras. While there was lots to see and do for the celebration, we had enough time to tour the other things that New Orleans had to offer. A must-do for all visitors is a tour of the old cemeteries of New Orleans.
Luxury Travel
We occasionally like to splurge on luxury travel. You wanted to know about travel on Business Class with Cathay Pacific. That was a great way to start the year. We couldn’t help but finish up the year in First Class on Emirates. It will create a strong precedence for travel plans for 2017!
Thank You For Your Interest
It is great to see the interest we have got on our blog and the travels we are doing. We are lucky to travel a lot and share that travel as we go. Your favourite blog posts of 2016 will help as we think about blog posts for 2017!
Thank you for following!
Does this list include your favourite blog posts of 2016? If not, which one caught your interest most?
Happy New Year!! Hoping one day to have a year like your 2016! It is a good thing I can’t afford 1st class, not sure I could go back after that luxury. I love seeing your adventures, cheers to 2017 having many more great travel adventures!
Cathy, Happy New Year to you! We had an awesome 2016 – so much more than we thought we would squeeze into the year. It is great to be semi-retired. We can work for enough money to splurge on travel and then off we go. We got lucky with our first class travel. We have been collecting travel miles forever and finally cashed them all in for a splurge! Worth consolidating everything to one travel card that accrues travel $$$. This has worked out so much better than an airline points card. Happy travelling in 2017! Linda
